Your therapist will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan and adjust it as necessary based on your progress and evolving needs.

Please note that though the duration of therapy depends on your needs and goals, it can also be ongoing as part of overall mental health wellness.

  • A holistic approach to therapy addresses physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. While not mandatory for everyone, it offers a comprehensive exploration of issues across these dimensions. If this approach resonates with you, you can expect to explore your concerns on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. Research suggests that holistic therapy can enhance the mind-body-spirit connection, reduce stress, and alleviate trauma responses.

  • Inner child work in therapy involves addressing unresolved emotional issues and unmet needs from your childhood. This approach helps you heal from past traumas, understand and transform behavioural patterns, and foster self-compassion. Inner child therapy can be beneficial for improving relationships, overcoming self-limiting beliefs, and achieving emotional well-being.

  • A consultation call is an opportunity for both you and the therapist to determine if you’re a good fit. During this 15-minute call, you'll share what led you to seek support, provide information about your expectations and concerns, and ask any questions you have about the therapeutic process. The therapist will explain their expertise and how they might assist you.

This call helps you get to know the therapist and decide if you'd like to proceed with them. If it seems like a good fit, you can schedule your first session. If not, you can arrange another consultation with a different therapist until you find the right match for your needs.

  • The first session, or initial assessment, is a structured opportunity for your therapist to understand you and the issues that led you to seek therapy. This session involves gathering detailed background information, including your school/work history, support systems, and mental health history.

You’ll have the chance to share more about yourself and discuss what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past regarding mental health. Don’t worry if you don’t have all the answers right away—your therapist is there to guide you through the process.

  • Feeling nervous about your first therapy session is completely normal. Therapy can be a vulnerable experience, and it’s natural to feel apprehensive about sharing personal feelings with someone you don’t yet know well.

Remember, this initial nervousness usually fades as you become more familiar with your therapist and more comfortable in the process. Take things at your own pace—share what you’re comfortable with, and there’s no need to reveal everything all at once.

Starting therapy takes courage, and the fact that you’re seeking help shows that you’re already taking a brave step towards improving your well-being

  • A Registered Psychotherapist, or RP, refers to an individual who has master’s level education and has been specifically trained to provide psychotherapy services. They are licensed and regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

Other types of therapists include social workers, psychologists, and more, which differ in terms of education level and type.

  • Virtual therapy can be a great option if you prefer the flexibility of attending sessions from home, have a busy schedule, or live in a remote location. It offers the same level of confidentiality and support as in-person therapy and can be more convenient for maintaining a consistent therapy schedule. If you are comfortable with technology and value convenience, virtual therapy might be ideal for you.
